Like I said before, Dustin performed a short acoustic set in the lobby in support of Invisible Children. He initially was going to perform in the corner, but asked security if he could get on top of the bar. Every one had a super fun time, singing along, and striving to help a great cause. Dustin and Thrice are doing some amazing work with IC and I was more than happy to offer what I had. For more information about Invisible Children and The Music Coalition, go here.
“I was worse than I ever feared I could be, but somehow I was loved more than I ever dared to believe. Because of you.”
My band The Victor Ship recently started pre-production for our as-yet-untitled upcoming record/ep/thing. In our first session, our producer Chris asked each of us to email him five songs that would give him a better understanding of where we were coming from musically. Not strictly in terms of what we wanted to do with TVS, but on a truly personal level. I thought this was a fantastic idea, until I started the process of narrowing my ridiculously broad musical tastes down to just five songs. After a lot of deliberation with myself and a couple of erased and restarted emails, here’s the list I settled on. I’m curious to see what your five would be so reblog this and play along, yea?
As Cities Burn - “Wrong Body”
Thrice - “Of Dust and Nations”
Nine Inch Nails - “The Fragile” *
Ani Difranco - “School Night”
Thursday - “Steps Ascending” *
* = Pretty incredible live video that you should watch, even if you’ve heard the song a million times.
